Design Concept & Philosophy
The brand new Capelin and Capelin Micro, were designed and crafted summer 2026.
“The Capelin was designed to be the ultimate gentleman's knife. What is a gentleman's knife? — it's a refined everyday companion that combines practical functionality with elegant design and meticulous craftsmanship, and the Capelin is available in two different sizes.
A gentleman's knife is still a tool, but one that is usually intended for lighter use, not to be your tactical everyday carry, nor your general purpose utility carry in the backcountry or on the farm. With gleaming polished blades and bolsters, the Capelin isn't a knife you'll want to use to "pry open paint cans", as one new owner said. *KN Knives has other models built with that intention in mind.
With that said, the Capelin and Capelin Micro are built to the exact same standards as all KN Knives, featuring full-tang construction and high-carbon tool steel with a heat treatment perfected over nearly 10 years.
Handle Construction:
T6061 aluminum bolsters (peened construction)
Sheath Concept:
The Capelin wears a standard belt sheath, exclusive to this new model, while the Capelin Micro wears a more elaborate compact pocket-clip sheath, complete with an internal layer of animal skin varying from lamb, to deer, to goat, to protect the knife. The Micro sheath was specifically design to not 'print' inside a suit or tuxedo, if worn in that scenario.
